APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS

Dear Parents,

We introduced our spring unit "April Shower's bring May Flowers" by showing the children French painter Claude Monet's,   "Woman with a Parasol."  They replicated Monet's picture by cutting and water-coloring a mother and a child holding an umbrella.  The children worked cooperatively together to create a large sunflower.  They cut out and painted petals, a stem, and decorated a paper plate for the center of the flower.

We continued our spring unit by creating colorful finger puppet butterflies and large paper plate insects and bugs.  They look great displayed on our classroom bulletin board.  The children also created Lupine flowers by coloring an entire paper in yellow and then painted a long green stems with leaves. They finished  by using their thumbs to make the flower petals.

We recently celebrated Liaan and Catie's third birthdays.  Thank you to their families for donating the wonderful treats.  We wish them both a happy birthday!

We would like to especially thank Barrie, Nina's mother for coming in and making delicious sugar cookies with the children.

The children also made edible dirt cups after planting your Mother's Day flowers.

Sleeping after a hard day''s play.

We hope that all the mothers enjoyed their Mother's Day gifts and had a happy Mother's Day.  The gifts the children created for you were a labor of love.

Love,

Ms. Bonne and Ms. Barbara
